About Gillmor's Coach House
With the Magaguadavic River flowing on one side and the falls that rush into the salt water inlet on the other, the pretty town of St. George in Charlotte County New Brunswick is steeped in history and should not be missed in your travels!
Gillmor's Coach House Gallery is part of it's history.
The Coach House was designed by architect
W.S. Maxwell for Senator Arthur Hill Gillmor and
is over a hundred years old.
You step into another era as soon as you walk in the door.
Although now transformed into a lovely boutique, the building still retains it's historical integrity. Beautiful lathed pillars once separated the stalls for horses and cows, the walls and ceiling are all tongue and groove spruce and the old floor boards have been sanded and varnished to a rich gold patina.
Even the "miss-spelling" of Gillmor has it's roots in family history and goes back to the first "Gillmor" from Ireland who, for reasons unclear, chose the spelling.
It is rare to have such a completely unique shopping experience, you'll be glad you stopped in.
